Llanes is a township located on the Asturian coast that offers many idyllic corners to enjoy nature and discover its villages and beaches.
In the Asturian town of LLanes de Pría, you can find the "Los bufones de Pría". This is the most westernly group of buffoons in the Asturian coast. "Bufones de Pria" is integrated into the Protected Landscape of the Eastern Coast of Asturias. A buffoon is a karst formation consisting of a vertical hole formed a few meters from the edge of a limestone cliff which, through the lower zone communicates with the sea. When the tide rises, the waves beat hard and blow up a powerful stream of pulverized sea water causing a particular sound, which gives the name of buffoon. The jet of water spray reaches more than 10 meters in height and the sound can be heard several kilometres away. This natural phenomenon that takes place on rough-sea days is definitely worth a visit.
